Sometimes an indulgent snack is in order, am I right? This easy cream cheese dip with green onions and jalapeños is the perfect partner for crunchy tortilla chips.
Making this Cream Cheese Dip with Green Onions
I feel like I say this a lot, but this recipe is so easy! (I’m a big fan of easy.) If you’re in the habit of buying dip ready made, you’re about to change that habit.
Ingredients
Cream cheese — Use your favorite brand or, if you’re ambitious, make your own. You can use regular, lite, or fat-free cream cheese; any will work just fine. Start with softened, room temperature cream cheese to make mixing easy.
Sour cream — Again, use your favorite brand, light or full-fat. You can also make your own sour cream with just two ingredients.
Diced green chiles — Opt for mild green chiles to flavor the dip without heat.
Olives — Start with canned chopped olives or chop them yourself. Use black olives or ripe green olives, your choice! (Not the kind in vinegar, though.)

Cheese — Cheddar is the favorite here, and you can use sharp or mild. That said, if you have Jack cheese on hand, nobody is going to complain.
Green onions — You can use fresh green onions or chives in this recipe. No fresh herbs? You can also use dried green onions. You’ll need about half as much, as the flavor is more concentrated in dried herbs.
Jalapeño pepper — Here’s where the heat comes in. Finely dice the jalapeño pepper to add some kick to the dip. Don’t like the heat? Skip this ingredient!
Salt — Use your favorite table salt or sea salt.
