Slow Cooker Pulled Pork Tacos for a Tasty Dinner in a Flash

My slow cooker is my saving grace when there just don’t seem to be enough hours in the day. These slow cooker pork tacos make taco night (one of my favorite “fast” food meals) even easier. Make pulled pork tacos in tortillas, or do as we often do, and make taco bowls — perfect for the gluten free, low carb, keto crowd!

This recipe for slow cooker pork tacos starts with a pork roast. You can use a pork loin roast or a pork shoulder, depending on your personal preferences. The slow cooker (I like this one with the locking lid) will transform either into a tender, flavorful pulled pork meat for tacos.

Slow cooker meals do require some planning ahead. But if you assemble the ingredients for pulled pork tacos before you head out for the day, you’ll come home to a wonderfully fragrant kitchen with dinner almost ready! Just shred the pork and make up a pot of rice or beans to go with it. We like to chop up tomatoes, slice avocados, and offer extra onions — diced white onions or sliced green onions — for our onion lovers. Cilantro? That’s always optional, but we love it!

The beauty of making these pulled pork tacos or taco bowls is that people can customize their tacos. As the chef, you don’t have to worry about special diets or dislikes. Just set it up buffet-style and let everyone assemble their own!

Leftovers from your pulled pork tacos in a bowl? Layer some of that tender meat with cheese and onions in a flour tortilla for an easy quesadilla.

Slow Cooker Pork Tacos in a Bowl

Total Time: 8 hours 10 minutes

Pulled pork tacos! Tender, flavorful pork that works equally well in tortillas or in a bowl. 



  1. Cut slits across the pork roast in a criss cross fashion. Rub spices into the crevices. pork roast with slices in it for slow cooker pork tacos
  2. Place pork in the slow cooker along with broth and onion. pork roast with spices and onion for slow cooker pork tacos
  3. Cook on low for 8 hours.
  4. Remove pork from slow cooker and shred using two forks. Serve in a bowl or in tortillas with taco fixings like rice, beans, tomato, cilantro, and avocado.


These pulled pork tacos can be served in a bowl for a gluten free meal, or in a traditional flour or corn tortilla.
