  • 1 cup brewed espresso (I used this method with a full filter)
  • 2 cups coconut sugar
  • 2-1/2 cups water
  • 750 mL bottle of vodka
  • 3 T. vanilla extract

  1. Mix espresso, sugar, and water in a saucepan over medium heat. Bring mixture to a simmer, then remove from heat. Add vodka and vanilla, then portion out into bottles or jars. Let sit for 4-6 weeks so flavors will meld*.
  2. Depending on the size of the bottles or jars you decant this into (I used upcycled kombucha bottles) you'll end up with a handful of containers that make great little gifts. (These would work great, too.) Just add a label and a ribbon and off you go.

Recipe Notes

*Sure, you can let the flavors meld. But really. The Kahlua police will not come after you if you start sampling it right away.

Not sure if this coffee liqueur recipe is the one you want? There are other options! The important thing here is that you dive in and go for it.
